Levels 7, 8 and 9 work differently from the rest. The syllabus gives them a single list: 5,600 words, 1,148 characters to recognise and 500 to write by hand. There is also only one exam for all three. Your result on it decides whether you're placed at 7, 8 or 9.
That means there is no official "HSK 7 word list". Anyone who makes an HSK 7 book has to decide where to cut. What I did was rank the whole 7–9 list by how often each word turns up in real Chinese text and take the top 1,900 words, and the 167 most common handwriting characters. That gives you the part of the advanced list you'll meet most, which is roughly the first third of it.
The units in these books follow that frequency order, not themes, so you learn the most useful words first. Each of the 1,900 words has its own example sentence with pinyin and English. Both books are printable PDFs for now.
Counts are from the HSK syllabus published by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation in November 2025 (in force from July 2026), which is what HSK 3.0 uses.
